Walima Photography & Videography in London

Editorial photography and cinematic film for the walima — the reception that welcomes your marriage to family, friends and community, captured exactly as grand and warm as it feels.

Check your date

The walima is the wedding reception traditionally hosted by the groom's family, held to formally announce the marriage and celebrate with the wider community. For many South Asian and Muslim families it's the biggest event of the wedding week — a grand entrance, a beautifully styled stage, hundreds of guests, speeches, and often a first dance or cake-cutting under the lights. It's a room full of movement, colour and emotion, all happening at once.

We cover walimas the way we'd want our own family's reception covered — closely, but never in the way. That means knowing the running order of a South Asian reception before it's explained to us: where the entrance will come from, when the stage lighting changes, which relatives will want a formal portrait and which moments need to be caught candidly. Photography and film are shot by one coordinated team, so your gallery and your film feel like they belong to the same night, not two separate shoots stitched together afterwards.

Walima photography FAQs

How many hours of walima coverage do we need?

Most walimas run comfortably with 4–6 hours of coverage, from guest arrival through the stage entrance, speeches and first dance. We'll go through your evening's running order together and recommend hours to match, with the option to extend on the day if things run long.

Do you offer female photographers and videographers for the walima?

Yes — an all-female photography and videography team can be arranged on request. Let us know when you enquire so we can confirm availability for your date.

How soon will we get our walima photos and film?

You'll receive a set of sneak-peek edits within days of your walima. Full galleries are typically delivered within around two months, with your finished film following within around six months — exact timelines are confirmed in your booking.

Can you cover our nikkah and mehendi as well as the walima?

Yes — many couples book us across their full wedding week, from mehendi to nikkah to walima. Multi-day, multi-event bookings are one of our specialities, so just share your full schedule when you enquire.
